Where Anyone is Possible
This thread is going to be a discussion about anything and everything pertaining to the RolePages real life meet up at Dragon*Con 2012 in downtown Atlanta, Georga.
First of all I would like to layout the pertinent information.
Date: 8/31/12 - 9/3/12
Location: Dragon*Con is hosted by the following five hotels in downtown Atlanta, GA.
Hilton Atlanta: 255 Courtland Street, NE Atlanta, GA 30303
Hyatt Regency Atlanta: 265 Peachtree Street NE Atlanta, GA 30303
Marriott Marquis Atlanta: 265 Peachtree Center Ave Atlanta, GA 30303
Sheraton Atlanta Hotel: 165 Courtland Street Atlanta, GA 30303
Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel: 210 Peachtree St. Atlanta, GA 30303
Hotels: The host hotels are generally booked up for the next Dragon*Con the day after the last Dragon*Con, so chances are you will not be able to get a room there. Occasionally these hotels open up overflow room which are mentioned on the Dragon*Con website.
In addition there are numerous hotels in the Atlanta metro area which can put you within a few miles of the convention. Parking is an issue, and the convention gets very crowded, so the closer you stay the better off you will be.
Collaboration: Some people may be interested in sharing rides / accommodations in order to make it more affordable to attend the convention. While we encourage people to help one another out, we all stress that you should be extremely cautious when meeting people from the internet for the first time. Children should be especially aware of potential dangers, and clear any plans with their parents ahead of time.
Ticket Prices (Memberships):
RolePages Meetup: There is not an official time or location set up for a meetup yet. We want to see how many people will be attending before we decide on what kind of events we are going to schedule. It is important that you let us know if you will be attending, either on this forum thread, or by indicating it on the Event Board, so that we can get an accurate count of how many RolePages people will be there.
The reason that we're putting this information online so early is because we want to give anyone who is interested attending plenty of time to prepare for the convention. As you can see above the price on tickets goes up in May, and then again in July so if you are coming you want to buy them early. Hotels in the area are also booking up for that weekend so anyone who is interested should start looking to make arrangements now.
There will be more information posted on this thread as we receive it. Feel free to use this to reach out to other people in order to try and arrange your own schedules for that weekend.
