Okay, I need to get this out there. I've been with this site for about a year now, but as a few different accounts. I've found some things with Rolepages that I had thought would go away, but clearly wont if I'm still bitching about it. If I'm correct this site is Rolepages - Where Anyone Is Possible, correct? So why do so many of us bitch about the characters on here?

Some of us are original characters, others aren't. I've been both. When I was roleplaying as a character from Hellsing, I was constantly bitched about how I "didn't roleplay her properly." Yeh, I didn't roleplay her as a full on exact copy of Seras. I added my own touches to her. But really, I can't stand when people PM me telling me how she -NEEDS- to be played. If I went Seras as a full on exact copy, I would have gotten bored with her AGESSSS ago. I can understand if you lecture about it if I was far off. Like Seras being a guy, with brown hair, and isn't even a vampire. But why must people be pissed off if there is a few differences of how a character is played?

People bitch about being more then one of the same character, whether or not they are the same character as you. Can't you just find a way to make it work? It'd be much easier then spending hours on end arguing over who should keep the character.

Then the last thing I wanna ask is about the OTHER roleplayers. Most of ya keep to the same people and don't even give the other characters a chance. I can understand if you actually talk to them and they get on your nerves to were you don't want to do any IC shit with them, but before even giving them a chance? That's something that pisses me off, and it's not just because you miss their post. Some people go as far as reposting the same post 5 times to get the attention, and then just go off like "Blahhh no one loves me!" Some of ya don't even give a bit of acknowledgement of the other characters. Or how some characters (Such as the Pokemon when they had been around) would just be kicked, then ignored. I hate it when some characters don't have great roleplaying skills, but I still give them a shot. >o> Some of them are actually pretty cool...

I felt that these needed to be put out there...

Thank you for this. Seriously. Choosing to spend time inside writing and developing characters (whether original or otherwise) isn't exactly a normal thing. Shouldn't this be the one place where we all feel accepted?

More community. Less cliquishness. :)

I both agree and disagree with some of the stuff mentioned here, I don't mind people playing unoriginal characters at all and I agree the new rpers need to be given a chance however those of us who rp within a family group sometimes have important things to do within that group, I'm all for rping with new people and will even attempt it but what I dislike is when I'm doing something important with my brother or other family members and they interrupt, if you want to talk to me, make sure I'm not busy first.
Something else to realize also, especially for "new" people coming in, your arriving in an already populated universe that has roughly already set some "unofficial" rules in place as far as culture and attitude. You may come in with the character Donkey Kong but if IC wise the other characters don't give a crap about who Donkey Kong is your just looked at as so much noise in the background. And yes we are cliquish because that is human nature, the psychology of social dynamics will always weed out those that will not conform with the group think and force them to the fringes. The idea of having a character preestablished from movies books or history is not to have them stay impermeable and written in stone but to expand on that base and see how they would fit within the universe at large.

if you cant get in the cool clique, then take all the other outcasts and make yer own clique. Lots more people feel like they dont belong than feel like they do. Then when you get enough people in yer clique you canm ignore all the other cliques

and that is how you take over rolepages!

I can agree with Ame's on the whole thing with doing something important and others bump in thing. But like there's some characters that I find interesting, and would absolutely love to rp with, but the second I attempt. They shun me. I don't sit around in the main like "Blah no one loves me" I do try to put myself out there. I am also from a small and more of a noobish RP site, just like most of us here. It bugs methough cause sometimes even the newest of members shun me. O.o It can be quiet irritating at times....

i agree and people still kinda bitch at me and i'm an oc

Jayne I think what annoyed people about your character is you knew their names without asking or specifying that you'd heard someone else say it, instantly knowing a characters name isn't realistic, just saying

Might be an unpopular opinion buuut I'll say it.

Roleplayers are arrogant, egocentric jerks. They all want to be the hero of their own story, the star of their own show, most of the time it's really all about me-me-me. That's me, you and just about everyone of here. They won't give a fuck about you and continue with their own little story unless you force yourself into their face. You need to be patient and often post multiple times and sometimes even joke at them playfully about them ignoring you or PM them.

Be friendly but be blunt and don't stop pushing for their attention if you feel like jumping in their story. If they lash out at you for it or keep on ignoring you, then it just shows that they're not the sorta person you'd want to play with anyway. It might seem a little rude but social pressure is really one of the only ways to get attention sometimes.

Hmph. Obviously not an original character here, but I've had this one for years and I play him as well as I possibly can. The people who shun those who haven't written their own little cliche are always a turn-off, but it's nothing new. Happens on many websites. I hate it with every fiber of my being, but then again it sure can be fun to mess with them. The best part is when they don't realize mine is not an OC and they start slamming someone else for not having one.

However, one must admit it does become a bit tedious when out of the blue eight Odin's, Spidermen, Hellboys, or whatever show up.  Yes, on occasion we have had multiple characters show up the players sort of worked out the situation between themselves.  The Girlycards are a good example even multiple Edwards and Bellas.  But the "suspension of disbelief" which is necessary to really get into the character is stressed when its a continuous thing and none of the parties want to work out how it could be happening in the Story's reality.  Some of us are more method actors we really get into the mindset of the character we visualize their environment we rationalize what the mechanics of a certain situation must be to allow X to happen Y way.  Yes that is extremely geeky and borderline psychotic but it is how we derive pleasure from our play.  If all you want to do is pop into a chat quip a few lines flirt throw OOC around and be done with it, well, that's another matter. But the point I guess this rambling is trying to make is.  Even if you are Mario the Plumber, make him interesting, flesh him out, give him some life beyond his origins, a lot of players are ignored because they "seem" boring, mundane, or cookie cutter.  Other than that rant at 3 a.m. in the morning... welcome all new players to Rolepages where Everyone is a Target I mean Possible... almost.  Sometimes.  On Occasion.

Totally agree with you, also i find certain people seem to be good at ignoring people when you haven't talked to them before. It can be especially annoying when your character may be interacting with someone else and they just but in like you don't really exist. That is my pet hate >.<.

I'm not an OC, I have Many other doubles, MANY of them. I know some who refuse to Roleplay with other kinds because they allready jar a background story regarding them, but it gets me irritated the fact that they don't give us a chance. I'm new here, but I've role-played for about 3-5 years now, so I know my rules. I despise the fact that they are somewhat closed minde at times. I do agree though if they are dealing with personal matters between families on RPages, Rey can discuss that in a group. If you decide to do it on main, however, don't excpect them not to bid in. They want some entertainment and fun in RPing as much as you do. Thank you, and I respect everyones opinions (OOC Message )
