The arena is a place of conflict and combat. Here warriors can meet across a field of battle to compete for honor and supremacy. The following rules lay out the groundwork for Narrative Based Combat. While these are the standard rules of battle, combatants are more than welcome to adopt their own variations, provided of course that all parties agree to the conditions before battle begins.
Narrative Combat Rules
- All parties must agree to the rules before proceeding with a fight. In the matter of disputes the referee will decide between the combatants, and their decision will be final.
- All combat requires a minimum of 3 parties, at least two fighters, and one referee. More than two warriors may be involved if all parties agree.
- At the beginning of the fight the referee will flip a coin to decide who goes first.
- The warrior that goes first will initiate a narrative attack on their opponent i.e. *Swings a sword at you*
- The warrior that goes second will initiate a narrative defense i.e. *deflects your sword with my knife*
- The referee will then be responsible for determining the outcome based on the exchange.
- All issues of terrain, battlefield, special skills, or rules must be settled before the battle begins. Once fighting has commenced, the referee will have sole discretion as to the nature of any rules or conditions which were not decided on before hand.
The use of dice or other numerical tools will not generally be necessary but can be used if all parties agree to it.
