The Main Story Arc is an optional feature of RolePages that is designed to give a little bit of focus and context to all of the disparate tales being told by different characters on different sections of the site.


The Setting

Imagine the RolePages universe as a place of infinite worlds, realms, dimensions, and locations. Every place in reality, fantasy, fiction and dreams, and more then that, float out there in the inky dark of space and time and beyond.

However, for some reason, major intergalactic events tend to focus down on a single planet, Hellifyno: often touted as the most supernaturally active world in existence. In an even more bizarre twist, these same universal events tend to focus even farther down, on an establishment run by a man named Harry, and frequented by a group which is strangely misnamed “The Heroes”

The place that Harry runs is usually a Tavern, but depending on world events it may be a diner, a coffee shop, a food kiosk at a strip mall, or a cafe in a run down shack in the Hells. The “Tavern” basically acts as a default location for the main characters who are involved in the Main Story Arc.

The group is called “The Heroes” because they often find themselves in situations where they are forced to try and save the day.  There are also “Villains” who work against the interests of the Heroes, although the lines between the two often blurr.

Disclaimer: If you do not want to be involved in the Main Story Arc then you do not have to. You could be located on a world that is on the other side of the universe from Hellifyno and the events taking place. You may even be in a pocket dimension inside of another dimension, making it impossible for anything in the Main Story Arc to affect you.

However we do feel that the existence of a Main Story Arc serves to pull the site together, uniting all of the different stories and locations and characters with a common backstory and a common universe to exist in. It also helps to provide a sense of context against which you can create your own story.

DM’s (Directional Moderators): DM’s are players who run events and missions for other players to enjoy. Much like Game Masters in a tabletop roleplaying experience, they handle playing all of the non player characters (NPC’s) as well as providing the description and the running narrative of any events that take place. Most of these events are live in the chat.

A few of the DM’s act as directors of the Main Story Arc, arranging various characters and elements in ways that make sense, while also guiding people as they produce their own stories, so that everyone contributes to the whole. The player who runs the Narrator account is the director of all DM’s and the final arbiter of Main Story Arc direction.
