Hearing her question, he scratched the side of his head, that crooked smile of his faltering a little. "Me? I live here. Well not exactly hear..but a couple of miles from here." He gestured toward a dirt road that lead out of town. "There's a path down the road that I take to get there. Got a small house sitting out there in a clearing in the woods. Not much, but it's better than nothing." He shifted on his feet, shoving his hands in his pockets. "But I was doing some chores." He said this as he gestured to the bag with his things. "Came in town to get some things so I don't have to worry about it later." He looked down at Zues who sat there looking at the girl contently, almost as if she were the most interesting thing in the world. "I was going to take him on on the sail or maybe go fishing. Can't really make up my mind."
Hearing that it was fine, he scratched behind Zues's ear and patted his side before standing back up straight. The side of his mouth tugged up, giving her a crooked smile before taking her and in his and giving it a slight shake. "Nice to meet you, I'm Logan." After introducingg himself, he released her hand, letting it fall back to his side. He looked around for a moment, not really knowing what else to say or do. But after a moment, he looked back to her. "So, what brings you out here?" He wasn't trying to be nosey, he was only trying to start a friendly conversation.
His eyes shifted to the group of girls as he began to pass them, only giving a brief nod. He was ready to drop his things off so he could go on with his plans that he had for the rest of the day. The day couldn't get any perfect, so it was the perfect time. But that changed when he heard his companion's barking. He looked over at the canine, seeing him putting his weight on his front legs, his tail swaying back and forth in the air as he stood in front if the group of girls. Another playful bark excaped his muzzle. He wasn't showing any harm, he was only wanting to play.
Embarrassed by Zues's actions, he placed the bag on the ground and reached for Zues's collar, hooking around its black material. He looked up at the girls, offering his best apologetic smile as he backed up, pulling his companion with him. "Sorry about that." His voice was calm and soft as he spoke, a bit low around the edges.
The day was beautiful in the small town in Louisianna. The sound of the crashing waves could be heard in the distance, seagulls going at it overhead. Palm trees her lined down the small trip from the small shops and vendors on the side, a lighthouse even in the background behind everything. The sun shined down, warming up the earth, but a slight breeze kept it from being too hot. The smell of salt water lingered in the air and food from the little restaurants that looked like they had been there for who knows how long. People walked along the small path, their voices carrying out in town. Some would hand out outside of shops, laughter even coming out of the bar close by. Nothing was wrong with the place, it was perfect to many here. A peaceful place with no problems.
The sound of footsteps were heard out of the many people, belonging to a man. A brown bag was in his hand, filled with groceries he had recently bought. A older German Shepherd was right by his side, his tongue hanging out his mouth and the sound of his claws clicking on the path. The male wore a grey v-neck that seemed to fit perfectly against his frame, a pair dark jeans hugging his waist. His blue eyes stood out, his dark hair just beginning to grow from a buzz cut. He was handsome, no doubt about it. But if anything seemed off about him, it was the haunting look in his eyes. He seemed happy though, a content look on his face.
Today was his day off, shopping to get over his chores so he could enjoy the rest of the day. It was perfect to go sailing or even fishing. Either way, it was one of those days he was going to take advantage of. He looked around almost as if he had never been there, impressed by everything he say. But he'd lived tere almost a year now and still couldn't get over the beauty of it. If there wasn't anything that he has regretted, it would be coming to settle down here in Louisiana. He needed something like this to give him peace after his third tour.
