I am the Asgardian prince, the God of Mischief.
 A misshapen Frost giant,  adopted brother and nemesis of Thor, the adopted son of Odin and Frigga and the biological son of the Giant Laufey and the enemy of The Avengers.

Adopted by Odin and Frigga at the end of the Asgardians' war with the jotuns, I was treated as a prince of Asgard and was never informed of my true heritage throughout My youth. I was smaller and thinner, and has darker eye and hair colour while paler in complexion than the Asgardians and is treated with less respect and acceptance because of it. Throughout their childhood it is implied that i spent much of my time trying to prove myself as Thor's equal while being ridiculed for my obvious inadequacies which led me to studying sorcery and magic instead of trying to acquire strength that i would never attain. Admittedly jealous of my step-brother, Thor.

i got him banished and stripped for his powers when we went against "our" fathers order to attack the frost giants. when odin fell into his odinsleep i took over on the throne. orderd sif and the others not to go to midgard for help thor

When Sif and The Warriors Three disobeymy command to wait for my word by going to Midgard to retrieve Thor, i confronts and freezes Heimdall for allowing them to leave. I then sends The Destroyer after them to eliminate everything in its path as it ensures that Thor cannot return home. This action proved my undoing when Thor's courage in confronting the automaton paved the way for his return, and just as i revealed my double-cross against the Jotuns who were infiltrating Asgard, Thor arrived to challenge me over my actions. The resulting fight quickly moved to Heimdall's Observatory where i had opened a portal that would destroy Jotunheim. Thor's power ultimately overpowered Loki's cunning, at the cost of the observatory and the Bifrost.

As i fell into the abyss below, the spear in my hand was grabbed by Thor who in turn was anchored to the remnants of the bridge by the newly-awakened Odin. I appealed to my stepfather that by annihilating the Jotuns i was doing what was best for Asgard. Odin sadly rejected this, and with my Asgardian life now in tatters I released the spear and allowed the wormhole created by the Bifrost's energy to claim.

The trickster was not so easily felled however, and sometime later an apparition of himself appeared on Earth, where i began to influence Eric, who was summoned by S.H.I.E.L.D. to turn his scientific knowledge to the task of unlocking the secrets of a blue cube, which would supposedly be the key to unlimited sustainable energy for Earth. My apparition whispered words of encouragement to proceed.

After falling through the wormhole, I arrived in a part of the universe unknown to both the Asgardians and humans and came into contact with The other, a servant of Thanos, who offered a pact that would allow me to become ruler of the Earth while Thanos and the Chitauri would take the Tesseract, the cosmic cube left on Earth being studied by S.H.I.E.L.D. Thanos gave me ancient knowledge through the powers of the Tesseract, providing me with a Golden bladed staff with a blue gem that was powered by the cube itself. It acted as a very powerful weapon, and also as a mind control device, bending those who were touched by the gem's power to its will. Unbeknownst to me , while i could use it to puppeteer the minds of others, me myself was also being controlled by the Tesseract's will, the staff's power turning my green eyes crystal blue as long as i wielded it. i was still able to keep my mind and not become a mere puppet, but the grip it had on me fueled my hatred and desire to bring harm to humanity and my brother, Thor, beyond what they were. 

Accepting the deal without fear of failure, I turned my focus back to Earth in search of a suitable agent, someone close to the Tesseract. I found Erik Selvig, a friend of Thor's and a renowned astrophysicist, who had been summoned to the task of unlocking the secrets of the mysterious cube. In time, Selvig came to understand some of the Tesseract's capabilities, and through my influence he developed equipment that would focus some of that power. When the time was right, i activated the Tesseract, forming a temporary portal that pulled me through to its location on Earth. i was immediately confronted by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who fired guns at me only to learn that bullets bounced off of my body. Nick Fury attempted to keep me away from the Tesseract after, but i managed to use the scepter to subjugate and control Hawkeye and Selvig, as well as a number of other agents by placing the tip of the scepter at their chest near their heart and allowing the power of the gem to overtake them. I explained to Nick Fury that i wanted the Tesseract as part of my 'glorious purpose' which was to free the earth and humanity from 'freedom... life's great lie' as their one supreme king.

In battle, I uses throwing knives to injure my enemies, though im also proficient with a spear.
hile he was the king of Asgard, I uses magic artifacts like Odin's spear, Gunenir which can project mystical blasts of energy, and control The destroyer or the Casket of Ancient Winters..

 I used a special staff that was exceedingly powerful. I was able to use it as a means of energy projection of a powerful blue laser blast which was powerful enough to kill several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. I also used the staff to put people under my mind control and even used it as blade to stab Angent Coulson with.
