My Story Is...

As a child Iroha was forced into solitary confinement in her room, watched for 24 hours, as well as forced into painting all of the time. As her skills never met the expectations that her parents and family had forced oton her, her life gradually became worse. She was regarded as a ‘nobody’ by her family, and was never allowed to be seen in public, with every day of her life focused into making her artistic skills up to their standards. Outside of Nijiue family household nobody knew much about Iroha; and her family often made up excuses to cover up why she was never heard about or seen. The most common excuses were that she was always sick and that she had a mental disability, but this was more of a way for the public to forget that she ever existed in the first place.

Whenever Iroha tried to escape the room she was trapped in she would be physically abused by her parents, and that she wasn’t allowed to suicide until her parents believed she was ‘worthy enough to be apart of the Nijiue. At an unknown point in her life a man named Utsuro saved her, and she would be gifted by fortune. Her artistic skills began to improve drastically to a point that her family began to approve of her now, and she soon became a talented individual. One day however Utsuro went missing, and out of fear she successfully ran away to find him. ———————————- During her years at middle school, Yoruko was extremely introverted due to a social phobia she had at the time. This tended to resort to bullying, her life being faced with this every day up until one point. On this day in specific, Yoruko was dragged to the back of the school, where she was beat up and robbed believing she was going to die on that day. Upperclassman Amane Caria would discover her way around the area at that time however, and was able to scare the bullies away. It was revealed to Yoruko that Amane in particular decided to help her out, as she too was bullied in the past and couldn’t stand there and watch the event go down. After school, they talked to each other, Amane showed Yoruko where she had worked: a Hostess at a local pub. After this event, Yoruko looked up to Amane and wanted to become closer to her by becoming a Hostess as well. This all ended when Yoruko begun to gain more popularity however, which would end up with Amane losing her job, slapping Yoruko and leaving after a confrontation.

Yoruko was revered as the ace-in-the-hole of one of Japan’s most famous bars. Despite being under-aged, she faked her identity in order to gain employment. Her status as a high school girl was only revealed, ironically, when an acceptance letter from Hope’s Peak arrived at the bar. When her fake identity was discovered, she was given two options: attend Hope’s Peak, or face juvenile court. Despite the nature of her enrollment, she chooses to view her time at the school as a way to improve her future prospects. ———————————- Setsuka: A lot of Setsuka’s childhood isn’t mentioned by Setsuka. She lived with her mother and father; a billiards pro that inspired Setsuka into later pursuing a career as a billiards pro.

The earliest memory Setsuka recalls is one of her dads tournaments. She had one day, presumably like she had been doing for a while, been heading to one of the tournaments her dad had been participating in when an accident took place. This unnamed accident left half of her face had almost been caved in, resulting in Setsuka having to undergo surgery. She barely survived what had happened to her, but the outcome left her right eye ruptured. The doctor’s proposed that Setsuka would undergo eye transplant surgery- despite it being impossible to actually transplant an eye at the time- or replace it with an artificial eye, as she would otherwise be faced with blindness. Her parents were against what was proposed, however a doctor had secretly done the transplant on Setsuka despite their complaints.

While the surgery was successful, Setsuka had undergone certain side effects. Namely; the replacement eye was able to record everything to her memory, but leaving both eyes open would result in dizziness due to the recording of her present and past life. Nobody found out about this eye except for her parents (and later on Sora). It’s implied that her parents had never complimented the eye at all, which led for Setsuka to cover it up as a secret that only her friends would know about.

She soon pursued a career as a billiards player, even despite the accident, and began to perfect her skills in it. It wasn’t long until she managed to win against pros and win a world billiards tournament at a young age, and she was destined to only win more as she further improved her talent over time. However, she was eventually found out to be cheating – Setsuka was banned from the billiards community for life, and had to pay numerous fines and whatnot for what she’d done.

By the time the tragedy came around her past was behind her, and many people didn’t know about her past. She began to now pursue a career as a detective, and it was also the time her skills began to appear. While not much is known about her career as a detective, other than following people around and using her devil’s eye to her advantage ————————————– Kokoro:

Kokoro was born with alexithymia, an illness which left Kokoro with no emotions other than ‘curiosity’ for her entire life. She was abandoned by her biological parents when they found out about the illness, upset that she didn’t have any feelings. A young Kokoro would be put into the foster care system and then later adopted by a wealthy family.

It wouldn’t be long until Kokoro began to garner an interest in her illness and emotions, and began to research each to gather a better understanding of both. Her adoptive parents were happy with this happening and often even funded the materials Kokoro needed in her research, unaware of what would later happen to her. Her understanding and knowledge built up over time until she managed to recognise emotions easily, and where she would manage to pursue a profession as a psychologist.

The remainder of her life was mainly spent in a lab with other psychologists. Soon, her life began to change, as she wanted to learn more about emotions, though the materials she had left her thoughts unanswered entirely. She had been aware that another psychologist in the lab, otherwise known as Sojiro Kurokawa, had been developing feelings for her for a while now. They soon married with each other and had a child called Mikako Kurokawa, who Kokoro would experiment on par to Sojiro’s and hers agreement that it would be fine.

One day, Sojiro ran off with Mikako, headed to the mountains. While his status remained unknown for the years to come he had actually died on these mountains, and lost Mikako who fell into a river. She was saved by a man named Hanzo Kisaragi, who had passed by the stream on this day, and then later adopted by him as well.

Kokoro was unaware of these events for the rest of her life, and didn’t bother to try reaching out with Mikako or Sojiro dubbing the former as a ‘failed experiment’. The tragedy soon began anywhere around seven to eight years later. After this event Kokoro would come across a man named Mikado Sannoji, a person trained with hacking.

SDRA2 – Chapter 0 CG – Mikado and Kokoro discussion
Later, after meeting Mikado, they would begin to work with each other, with Mikado funding some of her projects. One of these projects included an AI of Mikado, which Mikado would work on the programming and creation of while Kokoro supervised.

On an unknown day Mikado would rush into Kokoro’s lab with a new code for this AI; testing it would meet with success, pleasing Kokoro to a degree. This would soon change after Mikado hands her his months pay of the projects, resulting in a mix of worry and disappointment seeing as the money Mikado gave her was never earned- instead, it was hacked for.

The two would talk for a bit longer, until Mikado searched through Kokoro’s computer- with permission- asked to input sample data into it. However, her files were unorganised, leading for Mikado to accidentally click onto the wrong folder; a collection of Mikako’s emotions up until death. Mikado briefly questioned Kokoro about the folder until the name ‘Utsuro’ was brought up, resulting in Mikado to punch the wall in frustration.

Afterwards, Mikado would request for the folder to be scanned to learn more about what happened; though Kokoro was reluctant to do so until Mikado offered more money. ———————————— Emma: Beginning her rise to fame in the beloved series “Harry Peter”, Emma recently starred in a blockbuster film as “Holly Quinn”. Throughout her career, she has earned numerous international awards for her acting.

However, according to what Kokoro Mitsume said during her final speech with Emma, it seems that Emma had issues with her adoptive father and brothers, and judging by Emma’s outburst before she knocked out Kokoro, along with Kokoro assuring her about solving her problem with her adoptive father and siblings, it’s heavily implied that she was abused physically by them.

Afterwards, it was heavily implied that Emma escaped from her abusive family. ————————————————————– Hibiki Otonokoji: Hibiki can be described as a demanding person, specifically when around her twin sister. Though she can appear quite mean towards Kanade (her sister), it’s described to be Hibiki joking Despite this, however, it’s a simple cover up, with Hibiki meaning what she says at times. Along with this, it’s said she’s always around Kanade, appearing to be the dominant out of the two, being “high and mighty”, as described by Sora. It’s believed she’s easily frightened, however. It’s also shown that Hibiki has the habit to give the others on Utsurohima a nickname of sorts which is used to show trust between her and that person.

Due to the stress and worries Hibiki was having during the early days of being on the island, she appeared to be more prone to lash out at people, as well as having outbursts mid-conversation.

After the revelation of Void, it’s shown Hibiki lacks remorse for Hajime, blaming him for starting the Killing Game. She’s shown to quickly blame others as well, hinting at her loss or remorse over the current time spent on Utsuroshima. With Void being revealed the day prior, it’s apparent that Hibiki has developed a distrust for everyone around her, par Kanade, outright saying it in conversation.

Later on in the chapter, it’s shown the Hibiki’s distrust only goes to a certain extent due to the nicknames she gives to the other participants. While initially rejecting the idea of performing due to her paranoia, she later went through with the idea, showing to have a more passionate side to herself when an activity had to do with singing.

Appearing to blame herself for the deaths before the third, Hibiki attempts to act more confident and motivational, Yoruko initially thinking she had an alternate personality due to Hibiki’s usual emotional reactions in earlier days. It’s later described in Sora’s thoughts that Hibiki changed the most throughout the time at Utsuroshima, the latter developing a more mature personality.

Despite having a job and having many business relationships, her childish personality partially has to do with her sister killing off anyone that has the potential to make her a mature person. ——————————— Kanade Otonokoji: At first glance, Kanade appears to be very weak-willed and has trouble expressing her opinions thanks to her sister’s abuse. Whenever she says something logical, Hibiki would often thought that she making fun of her for realizing her sister’s mistake. Hibiki also calls Kanade ‘morbidly obese’ and often play games like tickling her younger sister. Kanade, as such, seems to be dependent on Hibiki, and don’t usually try to defy her, even saying to Sora that she doesn’t need to be worried that she is being bullied. In contrast to Hibiki’s personality, Kanade wants to protect her twin sister, rather than bash and control her. During Hibiki’s outbursts, Kanade would take the time to help her throughout, taking her away from the crowds, and letting her calm down during these times, being her moral support in blunter terms.
Unlike her twin sister, Kanade appears to be smarter and more useful during cases due to her ability to spot pieces of evidence and theorize how the killer used it to help them. An example of this would be during Chapter 2, where she would spot the icicles and the carvings on them. However, during the trial, Kanade starts to show her hidden personality. She appears to become much more intimidating to others, including Hibiki, by grinning menacingly or creepily stare at the students when they started questioning her theory, blatantly saying that it is perfect. In Chapter 3, her true personality revealed itself.

Kanade is an cunning, manipulative and to an extent, psychopathic serial killer. Born being better that not just Hibiki, but almost everyone in her life at almost everything, Kanade believed that she was perfect and didn’t saw value in anyone, calling her parents ‘things’ and quickly dismissed their death which was caused by her older self, except one. Kanade has an extreme and incestuous loved for her sister, believing her to be the only family member she has. Like Kanade, Hibiki realizes that she is inferior and bullies Kanade to make her remember that she is still the older sis and forces Kanade to rely on her. Because of this, Kanade faked herself to be a supportive and caring younger sister, which fooled everyone, including Kokoro Mitsume, and secretly plans lots of mental shocks for Hibiki, which includes butchering her pet dog Shiro, causing her best friend Ayumi’s entire body to be paralyzed for the rest of her life, giving the middle-school teacher she had a crush on an extra dose of muscle relaxant, killing the recording engineer, makeup coordinator, and manager for the band and much more, tally up to around 60 lives not counting her parents, all so that Hibiki can only rely on her. Hibiki, because of the murders, is mentally weak, and after the band coordinator’s death, become a puppet that Kanade can control at will. Thanks to this, Kanade sets up an incredibly complicated murder scheme, where the victim Setsuka Chiebukuro, who was trying to help Hibiki over her mental health issue was killed then chop to pieces.

However, this also shows the other side of Kanade’s personality. When her plan was starting to be found out, Kanade quickly became more and more furious and when back up to a corner, she shook up and turned pale, saying that her plans have never failed before and blaming it on pure rotten luck. Because of her perfect view of herself, she couldn’t accept her failure and stuttered, though quickly return back to her normal self when she know she can’t escape, wishing to see her sister’s despairful dying moment before she dies. —————- Hajime: Ever since early childhood Hajime had spent a majority of his life inside of hospitals, always ill with different health complications which left him unable to experience life as he properly could. His parents, at first, spent everything they had to try and help their son combat his illnesses, but when they eventually ran out of money they chose to abandon Hajime altogether.

His fate seemed to of been sealed at this point, and he would likely die. However, he would be saved by a man named Utsuro, whose luck cured him from all of his illnesses. His body quickly became that of a healthy persons, but he had nobody to go to now that his parents had chosen to abandon him. The hospital tried to contact both of them initially; but there was no reply, and Hajime was sent to an orphanage.

Hajime struggled to bear with these thoughts most of the time, and ended up mixing himself with the wrong types of people. He began to smoke, drink, take drugs, etc, while hanging out with these friends. One day however a man found Hajime and his friends and tried to help them, but they all began to retaliate and fight the man. Hajime, who was the strongest out of this group, was easily defeated, just like the rest of the gang. When Hajime recovered he spoke to the man, who revealed himself to be a former boxing champion who still ran a boxing centre at the time.

After a few brief conversations with the man Hajime was drawn to his strength and health, and went under the man as one of his students. He was then taught everything he currently knows about boxing. He was eventually scouted as the Super High School Level Boxer once winning a number of tournaments and a champions belt. —————————— Utsuro: Utsuro grew up happy in a good family. It is described that as soon as he was born, illnesses were cured around where he lived. However, his parents eventually found out about his abilities with luck, and began to use him like a charm to fill their greedy needs. After realizing his, he became miserable. He learned to control his luck, but his power wasn’t well-rounded; he could use his powers to get anything, but the “process” of doing that didn’t exist. For example, he could ace a math exam without actually learning mathematics. If he thinks he wants to study machines, he becomes well acquainted with machines. Whatever he thought, it was just done, with no sense of accomplishment or satisfaction. Because of this, he became bored with the world, and ran away from home. He was able to live by himself on the streets thanks to his ability, and on his journeys, started helping many people in need, including Akane Taira and members of Void. However, this was not because he was a good person; it was just because it was a “good deed” to do, and he got bored of that as well. As everything went as he wanted, he was no longer interested in anything. He attempted suicide multiple times, but failed again and again thanks to his ability. At some point, Utsuro met Junko Enoshima, and she made him feel something for the first time in forever– despair, likely– and he began following her footsteps, orchestrating DRA’s killing game with Akane in preparation for class 78’s killing game at her request.

To infiltrate Kib?gamine Gakuen, Utsuro kidnapped and took on the identity of Yuki Maeda. To blend in with everyone else, his memories were altered at the beginning of the killing game. ————————— Mikado: According to Kokoro, Mikado had lived in an orphanage during his childhood.

He is seen performing magic several times throughout the game, which includes his ability to unleash fire using spells and vanish in an instant.

Before the Killing Game, Mikado was stated to of performed similar tasks by Rei Mekaru. Though it isn’t directly stated what he’s performed, it’s soon said that he has performed acts of murder, violence, kidnapping and thievery.

Utsuro Research Edit
SDRA2 – Chapter 0 CG – Mikado and Kokoro discussion
During the tragedy, Mikado and an older Kokoro would work together to some degree, working on an AI of some degree. Mikado would hack for money, usually giving it to Kokoro as research money.

One day, at an unknown point, Mikado would rush into Kokoro’s lab, believing he had fixed a bug in something the two had been working on for quite some time. Testing it would seemingly go well, with Kokoro explaining a little on her family towards him, and her dream of studying the primitive emotion soon after Mikado had discovered a folder of data, updated up until a few years ago. Going into the folder is where Kokoro would discover that her daughter, Mikako Kurokawa, had thought of the name ‘Utsuro’ quite a bit. As a result, Mikado would punch the wall, seemingly in frustration that someone else had found him before he had. In the end, Mikado would ask for Kokoro to scan all of the data in the folder. ————————————- As a child Shobai went on a trip to southeast Asia with his parents, but was unknowingly abandoned by them for reasons left unstated. After around ten minutes of searching for them he was grabbed by street thugs, and was on the brink of being sold as a slave. However, he ran away, once realising his life was in danger.

He began living on the streets with nobody to go to, no food, and no shelter. He began to earn money from any way possible even if it was for just a single penny. Eventually though Shobai came to realise that the amount he was earning would never be enough to live for any longer. This is when he began to dive into the black market, beginning small and growing what he did over time when he found a talent in dealing.

Shobai eventually became the go-to person for anything related to weaponry, assassinations, distribution, and etc- with examples including the distribution of drugs in the slums of Japan for a million yen and the assassination of an oilman (though this later was called off) ——————————— Teruya: Teruya is a lighthearted boy who is gifted in management and business, and even aspires to be the next manager of the Otori Mart. He has a positive yet childish demeanor, and is prone to not taking things seriously. Perhaps due to his gift in management Teruya has a strong memory and his analytical skills he can remember the items stored in storage and the gift shop, as well as the exact placement of these same items.

Teruya speaks in a strange accent, as he has traveled all around the country and picked up different dialects. It is implied his dialect his fake, and is only used to make himself stand out more. When he gets nervous, however, he uses standard language instead. He also has a weird taste when it comes to fashion, but strangely enough, it can become a major trend thanks to his talent. ——————————————– Shinji: Shinji is a passionate man that gives everything his all, no matter the circumstances. He’s known for his incredible sense of justice, and cares greatly for the well being of others, as shown throughout the course of the game. He also has a very loud voice, and is often times yelling when he speaks. However, he lacks confidence in talking to women directly, and usually ends up a stuttering, nervous mess when talking to them. Although, he’s more suited to talking to them over text, since he wouldn’t be speaking to them face to face. Like Hajime, he seems to care about his health.

Over his years training as a firefighter, Shinji goes by the morals of fear, anxiety, or crying out. He keeps a smile on his face for this reason, and appears to become angry when it’s believed he isn’t scared of the Killing School Trip. ————————————————————- Hajime: Ever since early childhood Hajime had spent a majority of his life inside of hospitals, always ill with different health complications which left him unable to experience life as he properly could. His parents, at first, spent everything they had to try and help their son combat his illnesses, but when they eventually ran out of money they chose to abandon Hajime altogether.

He was eventually scouted as the Super High School Level Boxer once winning a number of tournaments and a champions belt. ——————————————————- Nikei: Believing that the best way to communicate with the world is through pen and paper, Nikei gained the title of Super High School Level Journalist for his uncanny ability to gather information.

At some point in his life, Nikei would befriend Emma, Iroha, Hajime. At some point, a person important to their lives would disappear, thus leading for Mikado to contact them, him saying that the same person had disappeared from his life.

Mikado told them that in order for them to meet that person they have to sacrifice people to meet them. They hesitated at first, but Hajime, Emma and Iroha accepted Mikado’s plan because of how desperate to meet that person, Nikei was going to turn the offer down but after everyone else agreed he was forced to agree with the plan. —————————————————- Yuri has completely “dedicated his life to women”, a phrase he describes as his life’s motto. He is flirtatious to women, notably referring to Sora as “baby” during his free time events, even ones he’s only recently met. Despite sometimes making suggestive comments, he remains chivalrous towards women, even confirming to Sora he wouldn’t touch a woman without her permission when she questioned why he invited her to his dorm room. On the other hand Yuri is harsh to men going as far to ignore them and refer to them as ‘scum’. He describes himself as “a being that was born only for women” while later describing his views on men being equal to pebbles on the streets, sometimes exaggerating his hate of men by saying he gives them “headaches”. Due to this behaviour though all of the female cast, including Setsuka who’s notably able to interact with anyone else, grows to despise him quite quickly, even being called a ‘pervert’ by a few of them. Further showcasing Yuri’s hate for men he’s shown to refuse telling his findings to Nikei Yomiuri, however openly talking about it when Emma Magorobi asks what he’d found. Despite this, he isn’t entirely against the idea of correcting Kanade Otonokoji when she comes to the conclusion that Utsuroshima is tropical, inferring that he’d correct women in certain cases.

He describes himself as ‘a veteran of being kidnapped’ however doesn’t act panicked when coming to his own conclusion he and the other classmates were kidnapped. Instead he tries to retain a realistic outlook on the situation, soon going on to say that he’s just doing his best to enjoy what he can in the newfound situation.

Since childhood, Yuri had developed the dream of being remembered as a saviour by a woman, even if it means sacrificing his life for this to come true. In the new and threatening situation of the killing game this fact soon comes to light, which is revealed to be entirely true according to Kokoro Mitsume’s emotional detection. Based from this it may be implied Yuri has a somewhat low morality view on life, as long as it would help another woman, based from this information.
