Nobody knows where it came from. Nobody knows when it appeared. Nobody knows what it is doing. Regardless, it exists.
It is roughly the size of a city, judging from the outer walls that contain its bizarre perimeter, but ‘city’ is not exactly the correct way to describe it. Nothing is the exact way to describe it, for it is the Illogical Labyrinth. The insides are constantly broiling and raging against the agreed upon rules of normalcy and the laws of Physics both known and unknown. Reality is not so much a constant as it is a hopeful suggestion that is then battered to pieces with a fish-shaped teapot filled with shower gel.
Buildings of all shapes and sizes grow from fluid landscapes, meld together and then break themselves down within minutes. Roads became dirt paths become winding fluid canals that form loop-de-loops through alien trees and other esoteric bioforms. The sky seen from within its walls flashes all the colours of the rainbow, and every colour in-between, before raining down gummy candies and mountains that are swallowed up and churned out into new utterly nonsensical sanity-shredding forms.
Nothing is constant within the Labyrinth. No belief, no law, no fact except that which states everything within these walls must warp forever-more. There are only two exceptions to this rule. Firstly, any intruders into this territory of lunacy do not warp or deviate from normalcy but are fully at the mercy of whatever madness the Labyrinth throws at them. Why would anyone enter? Well… that is to do with the second exception.
In the very centre of the ‘city’ is one building that remains sound and stable. A temple? A town hall? A museum? Whatever it may be, it remains. What does it contain? Gold? Secrets of an ancient civilisation? A key to remaking reality as one sees fit? Perhaps even a monster of unfathomable origin and incomprehendible goals? Nobody knows…
So why not come and find out? If you are mad enough to try.
