Kaler Eland
[It were somewhere in the middle of the afternoon, a couple of miles up from the mainstream city of Persistence, on the island of Palisade, the low lying sunlight of winter draping itself across the stretches of assorted trees and greenery, their branches and stems dancing softly in the light breeze that bestowed Winter upon the lands. It were not a snow day today, rather the morning began with a light frost, and since then it had thawed out in most places, save for a few underlying trees, protected by their winding and shielding masses. The wildlife was less active than the months before in Summer, the only sounds being those of occasional birds chirping and fluttering in the distance. Other than that, silence had befallen the peaceful forest. Silent, it was, accept for the slight underfoot crunching of a few scattered leaves left over from Autumn. And the cause of these was Kaler. The sunny boy seemed to be wandering aimlessly around the wildlife, dressed in that usual attire of his, enjoying the scenery, before coming to a halt by a large Oak Tree. In times like these, all by his lonesome, Kaler seemed to sort of zone off, into his own world. What had happened recently? So much…and before that? So much more. Confusion after confusion, and whilst for now he didn’t seem too disturbed, he seemed…distant, quiet]

=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire, herself, had been wandering. Leaving her dragon, Sol, behind in Persistence. She had taken to doing this lately, keeping a portal coin tucked into to pocket of her jeans, just so she could think. She was in her own world, not hearing anything around her. Not even the songs of the birds, which once brought her great pleasure to hear. She’d been confused, hurt, abandoned, and even tossed aside lately. Though, she knew there were a few she could trust. She found herself at a tree, and stood in front of it. Zaire closed her yellow eyes, sliding down to sit on the roots of the tree. She leaned her head against the trunk, lost in her thoughts as she sat there. Her warmth, the sunny radiance the Yuki was known for, was there. But she still felt the winter chill penetrating her clothing and seeping into her bones. She seemed asleep, if anyone were to stumble upon her, but she was mildly aware of what was going on around her.
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[A hand, for a moment, extended out from the young males self, touching at the tree, and running his fingertips along it, like a curious child might’ve done. The wind gently danced over his carpet of soft, snow-white locks of hair, having them become gently unsettled. His gold irises seemed to be oddly…focused. Or rather just staring off into the space of the bark before him. He couldn’t help but notice, how strangely unemotional he had been about things in the past, or rather, how unknowing he felt. Not knowing /how/ to feel that way; perhaps he often just tried to maintain a happy outlook. Though, to anyone who’d notice it, there was a slight “creak” of wood. The wood was the bark, and the creak was caused, actually, by Kaler’s fingers, apparently squeezing it, quite easily squashing it with his strength as it were. Though that moment of potential anger, or simply stress, was cut off by the sounds of someone sitting by a tree not far from him. Kaler’s head turned around to look off into the rest of the woods a moment, before his eyes fell on his Yuki friend Zaire. He blinked a few, but a small smile grew on his lips at seeing her; sleeping? Well, he would make his way over, as quiet as he could to not disturb her, though he thought she were actually asleep]

=======================================================
Zaire
She could hear his steps, even though they were quiet. A single ear flicked, the scarred one on her left, and she opened her eyes slowly. Her yellow eyes darted around a bit, trying to remember where she was. Oh, right. The forest. She’d almost forgotten she’d wandered out here. She looked up, spotting Kaler, and she smiled a bit. Zaire wasn’t sure if she wanted to stand up, not yet. She was rather comfortable on that root. After a moment, Zaire did stand. And as she stretched her arms over her head, she pushed more of her warmth into her limbs. She really had no love for cold weather. “Kaler? What brings you out here?” She wagged her tail slowly, unable to help herself. After all, there was one person she knew she could trust.
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[Quiet as they were, there was the occasional leaf crunching noises under foot, which despite his best efforts to mask, didn’t go through well, and in a way just made them all the more noisy, in a rather comedic fashion. But, ah, she wasn’t asleep after all! Phew, he was worried he had woken her up from a deep, peaceful slumber. Or maybe he had? Either way, she was awake, and not annoyed with being awoken, phew x2. Well, his lighter steps turned into more casual ones as he made his way over to his friend, more of a smile forming on his own lips now, more so at seeing how…happy, she seemed? Before she had seemed much more down in the dumps, but with her tail wagging; which was curiously cute; and warm radiance, she seemed in a much better state] Z-zaire! Oh, I was um…I guess just wandering. [He shrugged gently, maintaining the smile, though he did sigh softly] T-trying to clear my head a bit I guess too…
=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire nodded, leaning up against the tree. “I can understand that.” She brought a hand up, resting it on the trunk, and traced over the wood gently. “I tend to do the same when I want to think. Or when the city gets to be a bit too much for me.” She tilted her head, picking up on that sigh of his. “What’s got you so worried, Kaler? This isn’t like you, I don’t think.”
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
Mhm. [He nodded gently, glancing up at her tracing of the bark, just sort of watching it for a little as he stood there before her, but not overly close for now] I-I enjoy how quiet things are, sometimes helps me unwind, o-or sleep even, either way. [He raised his shoulders in a gentle shrug. He himself gladly didn’t feel the cold all that much, so standing there, whilst feeling the chill somewhat, wasn’t much of an irritant. He gave another nod, his eyes trailing around a little, as if awkward to begin talking to answer her question, thought at the same time, his mind was telling him this might be for the best, perhaps…] I-I uh….w-was thinking of recent things, and….h-how confused I felt, with the FaE things and all….a-and my past too I guess…how I got here, where I came from. [He glanced up a moment at one of the trees above them as he spoke, less of the typical “wholesome” smile on his face; not angry, confused would do better to describe it]
=======================================================
Zaire
There was a slight flinch from the Yuki. She remembered what it was like to be confused. She sat down on the root once more, folding her legs beneath her. “I know,” she whispered. “What they did, driving so many people mad, it was terrible.” She looked down, staring at the ground in front of her. “And, that was the hardest part. I was /confused/ the entire time. Only to come back to my senses and find that someone I loved…. had abandoned me.” She looked up at him, patting the root beside her. “But, enough about that. It sometimes helps to vent, I’ve found. So, I’m here to listen. Just like… someone did for me recently.” She smiled a little at that last comment, the memory in her head obviously a happy one.
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
S-sorry again for that Zaire, d-doesn’t seem right how they abandoned you like that… [He would return a gentle nod, before walking closer to her, to twist his form around slowly, and let himself slide down the trunk of the tree, settling his taller form down next to the Yuki. Despite his looks, being so tall, Kaler really did have such a soft, sweet heart and soul. And these recent events were being quite annoying to that factor, testing him in a way, a way that he really disliked] T-the worst bit for me was, well, feeling like I couldn’t /do/ anything, t-to help anyone…I-I don’t blame them at all, l-like, when I tried to help you and all, b-but it was just….frustrating. [He put a hand onto his head, his fingertips gently rubbing at his forehead] A-and then Kida too, Twine going crazy, and a friend from Sprout w-who’s been blamed for the FaE’s wrong doings…a-all whilst I didn’t know /what/ I was doing…
=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire lifted her hand, placing what she hoped was a comforting one on his shoulder. “That was the whole… thing,” she agreed. “It was a difficult time. And a lot of us were confused.” Or angry, she reminded herself. She blinked, changing her topic to something else. “But… Kaler, it was because of you, that one time you talked to me, that I was able to /remember/ who I was supposed to be.” She smiled again. “And then, seeing you there to help me? It reminded me that people cared. And it pulled me out of… what could have been a dark place.”
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[The shoulder hand was comforting, though Kaler could almost feel himself just…slipping a bit, into more emotional territory? Heck, even he didn’t get the feelings that were beginning to bubble up, he had never really felt them before. For now though he seemed to remain composed. A small smile came about from how she praised him, so to speak] T-thanks Zaire, I really d-didn’t know how much I could help you there….I-It was weird, not your fault of course, j-just…confusing, really the only word t-to use, but I’m glad a-at least I could get you out of the dark place. [His stuttering was just always present, one way or another, be it by just social interactions, or being near women oddly enough. But slowly it seemed to be more present, in a cosmic way] B-but thinking on that….I-It’s brought me to remember the people I came here with…s-since I’m not from Hellifyno originally. Uh, d-did you ever hear of the one “Guild” that w-was around for a while?
=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire knew exactly what he meant when he said it was confusing. Zaire had lived in a permanent fog of confusion while she was mad. And even now, after the fog had been lifted, she wasn’t completely sure if she was still able to lay claim to the statement that she hadn’t hurt anyone. She had to think for a moment about the Guild. “I think I heard of it,” she admitted. “I also believe I met your Guild master, Lime, once. The same day I met you, if I remember correctly. Oh, and I met another member. Neko.”
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[He nodded at her remembrance. It had been a little while now actually, from when all three of them came to Hellifyno] M-mhm, that’s them….o-or, /was/ them… [He said, shifting on his spot a little bit] I-it was so weird, coming from where we o-originally stayed at…i-it was a forest, kinda like this one, b-but with a strange Gate structure, a-and lots of people….k-kinda like this place actually, b-but less violent… [What was that showing on the boys face? Was it a hint of actual sadness? Perhaps, less than whenever he’s scared, or angry, or knows what’s happening. This one seemed to begin to form out of confusion. He didn’t really know /what/ to think] I-It was fun….w-while it lasted…
=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire leaned back against the root, stretching out her legs and crossing her ankles in front of her. “I think,” she said after a moment of thought. “I think the old saying that “everything happens for a reason” is true. I used to think it was just a cliche and it annoyed me. But… maybe what happened to me, the things we’ve both been through. I think there was a purpose. What that purpose is, I’m still trying to figure out. I mean, maybe Ash leaving me was so I could meet Kai. And know what it’s like to have someone who /really/ cares about me. Maybe the whole thing with the Guild was so you could make /more/ friends than you had before.” She smiled at him. “I’m your friend, Kaler. And if there’s ever anything I can do to help you, don’t hesitate to ask me.”
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[For a minute, Kaler would lift one knee up to rest his hands against, in kind resting his chin upon those hands, silently pondering so it seemed. Same time, he would listen to how Zaire explained things, how she perceived their situations. It was true. Both of them seemed to have gone through different, but equally troublesome times; guess it helped to understand each other better in a way. “Everything happens for a reason” he repeated in his head….he understood it, to be fair. Maybe it really was to get him to branch out, to leave the old lands behind and finally meet a wider world of people, friends and all. And Zaires comment was met with a kind nod from the Sun Boy, but, even still…] I-I get that….m-maybe it really was for a reason….b-but I just, i-it happened so suddenly….o-one minute, everything’s there; friends, o-our home, our lineage i-in a way……a-and then, just one day later….i-it was all gone. [At this point, there was in fact a slight wetness to the boys eyes. And one, single tear, seemed to run down his left eyelid* A-and, I…d-didn’t know what to do… [The poor guy, so confused, and never before had he felt this way; hardly ever he actually cried] I-I’m…crying…b-but i-i don’t….get it…
=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire looked over at him as he spoke, and when she saw that tear slipping from his eye, she could feel her heart breaking a little. She leaned over, wrapping her arms around him. He had comforted her /so/ often, perhaps it was time that he get the same comfort he offered others. “It’s all right to cry sometimes,” she said. “Sometimes, it’s good. Helps get all of that frustration and sadness out.” She was silent after that, just hugging him and letting her warm aura surround the area. She knew what it was like for everything to be wonderful one moment, and destroyed the next. Unconsciously, she remembered her children. “I know,” she said. “It was the same… for me when I was going to have my children. Everything was wonderful. I had them, I had my mate… and then in the blink of an eye /everything/ was gone.” She sighed. “But, all you can do is remember them fondly and keep pushing forward. Don’t dwell on the bad. Focus on the good and make more good memories as you go.”
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[In a cosmic sort of way, one might expect those golden, iridescent pools of light to never shed tears, as if it might be impossible, due to how warm and Sun-like they looked. Turns out he was no exception when it came to these things; an emotional being he was, though as it appears, he had his own bottled up within him, underneath the calm and happy self he always tried to maintain. The wrapping arms was met with his own, curling them around her form. Normally hugs either made him instantly content, or even flustered; this time? He wound up just holding the Yuki, and seemed to almost silently sob, small hics and sniffles, as a few more tears did empty out, slightly wetting her shoulder. Her own aura seemed to do better than his this time; it /was/ his turn to be comforted, before he managed to compose himself a little, though, remained hugging] I-I’m sorry Zaire….b-but you’re right….m-maybe this is why, I’ve f-felt so….d-disconnected, f-for a while.. [He sniffed gently, wiping a few tears from his eyes as he spoke] …d-don’t remember the last time I cried, p-properly… [After what seemed like a long while, he would slowly let go of the hug, his head plopping back against the bark of the tree, a long, but almost relieved sigh escaping his lips] I-I’m…glad we met Zaire. G-glad I could manage to make good friends here, e-even through all this…
=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire let him go when he wanted, placing a hand on his arm once more. “Don’t apologize,” she said. “You’ve done nothing wrong. It’s natural to mourn, even if they weren’t your blood relatives. They may as well have been family, and losing anyone hurts.” She smiled a little, her tail wagging slowly. “I’m glad we met too,” she admitted. “And I’m glad that I can be here to help. Even if I haven’t been the best friend lately.” She felt sincerely bad about that. She had wanted to say something further, but she didn’t want to bring it up. Not again. Instead, she simply fell silent, her yellow eyes glancing up at the sky for a moment.
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[His head tilted back down to view her, nodding gently in more understanding. They were like a family to him, having not had one beforehand. He lived most of his life on his own anyway, prior to coming here. Heck, even here he’s living rather lonesomely under Twines mountains. Peaceful, but lonely nonetheless. A small growing smile was given to her, then he began to have a little think over her last statement. That was /exactly/ what he had been thinking recently too. How long it really had been since he had a proper conversation with Zaire, before the madness hit. It was….weird, but at the same time, he actually had to make a small chuckle] Y-ya know, I’ve been thinking t-that /exact/ same thing….m-maybe that’s just helped us to be /better/ friends? [Another, still small but noticeable chuckle was given; perhaps the banter, whilst relating to the times recently, would serve to cheer them both up a little]
=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire smiled again, letting her nails tap along the bark of the root she was sitting on. “Well…” She took a breath, her smile growing. “I do have good news. Even after Ash…. abandoned me, there’s still someone out there who wants to help me get better. And it’s the driving force for /me/ to want to help others again. I was… not in the best place when that madness hit me. But at the same time, I don’t… I’m not surprised that it hit me so hard.” She shrugged. “But! It’s in the past now, and all I can do is learn from the experience and move forward, right?”
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[He returned such a smile, the tears, well, still present on his eyelids, but it was evident the small episode was helpful. Oh? Good news? That was a comforting thing to hear. He knew how bad news seemed to have befallen the poor Yuki for a while, as evident to their conversation earlier. It was clear that this brought happiness to the Sun Boy, the smile growing more, with a more calmer glow to his irises] T-that’s great Zaire! I-I’m glad someone else has. I-I get that, seeing as I was around d-during then and all. [He nodded as well; after hearing about the incident with a certain Siclides, he could guess she wasn’t as stable anyway. Gladly that being wasn’t around for now, so they could count themselves lucky] A-agreed, g-guess it’s the same for me. Gotta just look to the future….s-since I have you and others to be with.
=======================================================
Zaire
Zaire’s expression seemed to brighten as she listened to Kaler. “That’s it!” She grinned and leaned in to hug him. “You’re always gonna have people in your corner, Kaler. Just make sure that you’re in theirs if they need it sometimes too.” She nodded. “I have to remind myself of that sometimes. And it’s hard. But it’s doable.” She nodded, almost looking a little wiser there for a moment. She wasn’t /really/ any wiser after all that had happened to her. She was simply /using/ her intelligence these days. “Don’t let people tear you down, Kaler,” she said suddenly. Her expression was suddenly serious, even as she turned those yellow eyes on him. “Don’t let anyone tell you that your friendships and the trust you put in others is stupid and foolish. We often cannot survive without the support of others.”
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[Kaler let out a chuckle, and lent in to accept the hug once more; Zaire was a nice one to hug, mainly because they shared such similarities in their auras, both Sunlight people. He’d nod in understanding to her, he had people to be around. He would do his absolute best not to let others put him down; he was independent dang it! Kinda shy but still independent! One thing for sure was he’d try not to be misled, nor have his ideas of others twisted, especially by a specific /Other/ guy] I-I get that Zaire, and I believe in you too, we’ll both do our best! [He said with more a happy smile himself, one filled with pride to get things like that done, as best he could. He blinked a few at the sudden seriousness from her, but once again, he firmly nodded, believing he wouldn’t let people do that, as best he could] I-I’ve already had one person do that, b-but I’ll do all I can to make sure of that. You have my word a-as a friend. [He nodded firmly, a brighter smile now on his lips, before humming in a curious tone] Hmm…h-hows about we go somewhere like Red Sun? O-or just, I dunno, wander? I’m kinda bored for the moment, aheh. [He gave a playful shrug]
=======================================================
Zaire
The serious expression on Zaire’s face was quickly replaced by a smile. Even with all of the bad that had happened at the Red Sun, it still had happy memories for her as well. Memories that she liked reliving when going back. “I think that sounds like fun,” she said. “I am getting a little hungry.” Before she could speak more, there was a rumbling in her stomach and she started laughing. “All right, maybe more than just a little hungry, if I’m being honest.” She stood from her place on the root, dusting off her pants before giving a smile and a wag of her tail.
=======================================================
Kaler Eland
[Red Sun sometimes seemed a gamble; though, whenever he did go there? Usually things went rather swell. Heck, it was the first place he found himself landing when he first came to Hellifyno, as was Persistence, so it felt secure enough. He nods happily, returning the smile in kind as she did] S-sure! [With her stomach grumbling, there seemed a faint one in his own; perhaps they worked like yawns? Either way he just wound up sharing the laughter for a moment] Hehe, guess I’m a bit similar. [He gave another happy shrug, before letting himself positively fly off his seat, a gentle swoosh of the air before coming to his feet, and waiting for Zaire to come along also, through the slightly chilly but otherwise still forests of Palisade]
