Upon the tumbling hills of Springfarm park,

in the grass where we played and rolled about,

majestic your laughter still echoed out.

The sun came up and you weren’t around.

With us you were drawn to stay,

back to back and come what may.

Now it burns just to say,

a piece of me was lost that day.

The diamond in a family forged of coal,

you’re the truth that drew us home,

still the memory of you burns on.

The sun came up and the real war began.

With us you were made to see,

this beacon you chose to be.

Now it burns just to say,

a piece of me was lost that day.

You were my sister and you will always be,

you’re the reason I must continue to be,

and pray your dreams reach out for me.

The sun came up and powder bought no relief.

With us you were the warrior queen,

the light for your children to see.

Now it burns just to say,

a piece of me was lost that day.

We were tired beyond belief,

whilst you reached out and sought for peace,

I was drowning in the liquor of release.

The sun came up and I found no sleep.

With us you were the promise unpaid,

Vikki, our flower of the brave.

Now it burns just to say,

a piece of me was lost that day.

If we were to learn from the years that pass,

if we saw, would we have the right to ask?

The sun came up and so did your mask,

a thousand questions belonging to all of us.

Is this a pain we should not have?

Is our grief not a reflection of the shattered man?

Now it burns just to say,

a piece of me was made that way.

To this day I find it hard to say,

the biggest piece of you,

has the greatest part to play.
