As the story unfolds our daring trio of heroines swam to the bottom of the Lady’s Lake, finding themselves teleported mind, body, and soul to the spirit world. From here they were presented with the challenge of making their way through the tower, defeating all the opponents on every floor until they made it to the top; but using strictly melee weapons.
First they came together and found the Guardians Jiroubo and Kishimoto Iziz blocking the door, so with a hard fought battle they were seen as worthy to try the Tower. Where they were met by Master Leopardo and Mistress Tigre blocking them from crossing a tight beam to get to the next level. Though after some quick thinking and another hard won fight, the human women made their ways to level 2.
Now they ascended a helix shaped stairway that lead straight up to the next level of the Tower. They came to a large, empty room save for a familiar water fountain that would cure them of their wounds and revitalize them for their next battle. Behind that was, of course, another massive hole in the ground; but instead of catwalks from one end to another there were foot wide poles of bamboo that shot up through heavy obscuring clouds. Along the walls were handles and handholds that highlighted the general theme of this room.
Standing on their own pole out in the center of the 50 foot wide and long opening where the opponents for this floor. The man on the left was clearly a monkey, with a hairy face and arms and accompanying tail; dressed in a martial arts gi similar to that of Anthem. The other was a woman in a straw hat with a too long kimono , concealing most of her features but not her piercing green eyes.
”Oh I see you made it past the cats.” The monkey spoke first. ”Welcome to floor two.” The woman spoke right after. ”Take your time in the fountain.” The monkey said again. ”But the moment you set foot on the field, the game has started.” She finished up.
Anthem would look to Elesis, then Gwen and said. ”Let’s take our time recovering then, yeah?” Before heading towards the fountain herself and washing away her wounds.

It wasn’t very surprising for Gwen, once they’d made it past enemies that were both humanoid big cats to find… a monkey. ”Oh. Hi.” There was a lady, too, who seemed extra mysterious. But, with Anthem and Elesis, she’d made it this far. She could handle two more weird spirit people with their help! And they’d make it up this tower!
”Right. Game starts when we set foot on the field. Gotcha.” She nodded at Anthem then, and made her way to the fountain as well, kicking off her shoes for a moment to stick her toes in. ”We’ll definitely take our time to refresh here, then, before that ’game’ starts… Oof. All this work!” She dipped her hands in next, and ran her hands over her arms, before splashing her face. ”Not that I mind it. It is kinda fun? The stakes don’t feel that high, for a change, even though I know this is important for you, Anthem. It just kinda feels… nice to be helpful and not having to, like… Y’know?”

Elyss Sieghart

Her face hurts. Well, her side also hurts too. Man. What a mess she is? Elyss should really learn to not be so risky in these fights. First, it was almost having her body broken by the Kishimoto and giant. Then, she took quite the heavy directed blows to her gut and face. She’s surprised a tooth hasn’t fallen out, but her chin is no down bruised and moving it is uncomfortable and painful. Luckily, there is a fountain just like the first floor for them to heal their wounds at which she is glad for. It would be impossible to complete this tower against new opponents after a fight. They all become such a mess and extremely fatigued. Still, she’s noticed how Anthem seems to handle things with way more ease than Gwen and her. Elyss has a tinge of jealousy and inspiration from such. She wants to be as powerful and skilled as the Scion. She remembers having skills that many feared when she stepped on the battlefield, but after so much has happened in her life, she’s lost so much, and she doesn’t know how she’ll ever regain who she used to be.
Elyss’ eyes soon fall on the two new warriors they’ll be facing. So, this challenge seems to focus even more on keeping one’s balance. There is only bamboo to stand on, or one could hold onto the handles and such along the walls. This is going to be extremely difficult. Fighting a monkey in a balance fight? And, that other woman is most likely just as dangerous. ”Yeah. Let’s get ourselves healed up for this. This is going to be far from easy.”
She is quick to follow after Anthem stepping into the pool and kneels down cupping some of the water and splashing it onto her face to let the healing properties of it get directly where it’s needed most. Next, she’d lift her shirt and rub her wet fingers against her side letting her diminishing abs show. Ah. She still has pride in her body even though she lets it get beat up so badly. It’s not what it used to be, but it’s still better than a lot of normal people’s physique. It’s ready for another bruising though. No doubt she’s gonna get thrown around in this challenge, but she knows. She has quite the two gals by her side to watch her back, and her the same for them.

Anthem had closed her eyes as she washed her face with the healing spiritual water, feeling the rejuvenating effects cascade through her body to make sore muscles better, cuts and bruises disappear and restore her energy. “I understand Gwen.” She replied, switching from her face to her arms as she soaked her clothes without caring. “We aren’t fighting for the fate of the world and there aren’t tons of people riding on our success.” Though that exact thing happened so often that this was the reason the Scion sought out the Sword of Promised Victory.
After she felt back up to stuff, Anthem peered around the fountain to visually inspect her opponents. The monkey man had decided to stand between two poles spaced a meter apart, watching the humans and waving at the Scion as they made eye contact. The woman wasn’t as friendly, she just simply stood on a single pole and watched them like a bird of prey.
“Well. We have two options I think.” She started, moving back behind the fountain and regarding her compatriots. “One is that we fight them head on. And to do that on this chosen battle field is unwise.” She looked from Gwen to Elyss in turn. “I could… Maybe throw one of you? I mean I probably could toss one of you two that far, but it wouldn’t be a soft landing…” She shrugged. “They did say when a foot touched the field. Maybe they wont move if your flying.”

“I”m open to any suggestions.”

Gwen Poole

Gwen took her time to relax at the fountain for quite some time, splashing herself with the restorative waters every now and then even though she was basically all healed up, humming to herself as she did so. Some kind of sunny pop music tune, though she was still paying attention.
Looking to Elyss and then Anthem after the Scion announced her plan, Gwen… blinked rapidly. ”…What? You want to THROW one of us? Are you… are you that strong?” She looked at Anthem’s arms. Sure, they were a far cry from her own… so… hell, maybe it was possible?
”Uh… Well. Hmm. Sure, why not? I trust you. You Fastball Special me, and then Elyss can come charging in? Only thing is… I don’t know if I’m going to, like… be able to stay on one of those poles, but I’m willing to try anything if it means it’ll help.”

Elyss Sieghart

Throw one of them? Elyss was busy scratching her cheek as she felt more better about herself. No more annoying jaw pain that would have maid eating anything a painful chore. Though, when Anthem hit her with that suggestion, she felt her jaw hurt mentally imagining herself faceplanting into a pole or wall. Her imagination starts to act a bit wonky as Gwen asks how strong Anthem really is. It’s more like a kid’s dream of being rescued by a prince all; ya know, with them carrying them away from a dragon or something. She’d probably make a horrible princess though, or one that would inspire a whole lot of tomboys. Gosh. She wished she could just randomly ask if anyone wants to be thrown over a chasm.
”Eh… Well, I for one have no idea how we were going to be doing this, so that might just be the best option if we could just… skip the fighting.” She responds folding her arms and looking over at the two Spirit beings they’re to be facing soon. ”I don’t think I can best a monkey at balancing, and that woman gives me those vibes that she’s going to kick my ass.” Well, everyone has been kicking her ass as they’ve climbed so, nothing new there.
“Gwen is probably lighter than me, yeah… Fastball Special… I don’t really want to charge in headfirst, but if I have to…” She falls quiet looking away from the others and looks far from wanting to fight those two while everyone else is playing catapult. She’s a team player though, and is no stranger to sacrifices. In her mind, there is little else they can do in this situation since neither her nor Gwen are as capable as Anthem, and that annoys her a bit. Makes her feel more like an obstacle than an ally.

Anthem stood there with a stoic expression as Gwen commented on her idea, crimson eyes gazing between both of her partners in turn. Looking down at her arms would remind the pink avenger of two things, the first was that the Scion’s right arm wasn’t her original one but some sort of living amalgamation of vines and wood shaped into a facsimile of her lost appendage. The second thing was the muscle on her fleshy left arm was built like an Olympian, just reward for a lifetime of discipline and honing her body. “I’m pretty confident I could throw one of you at a time. And like, if your on the other side already then you wont have to deal with the poles. Granted Monkey or Lady doesn’t drag you back. Ya’ll will probably still have to fight them on the other side.”
Anthem nodded at the general consensus and started to remove the bandage that covered her right arm, it was mostly ripped up from her last encounters anyways. It revealed a deep green appendage with a few leaves growing out of it and sometimes the vines that made up the top layer shook on its own. “Alright, Gwen first. Elyss you’re right after. I’ll try to cross on those poles after.” As she spoke she rolled up her sleeve as well to reveal her bicep readying herself to toss the two women in hopes of giving them solid ground to fight on.
There was no way to hide their plan, so the Kishimoto woman just walked over until she was a few feet from the edge and motioned Gwen over. Now there wasn’t a very decent way to toss someone without harnesses and such, so Anthem chose to grab onto the back of her belt and a fistful of the back of her shirt. Then lifting the blonde woman off her feet, Anthem wound up with a single 360 degree spin and right before she’d touch the edge of the chasm she’d release Gwen with all that momentum that would indeed send her flying through the air a dozen feet over the pole filled hole and barreling to the other side face first. Next was Elyss who was sent over as well in the same unceremonious fashion; but both women would have to devise their own landing strategy.

”Alright! Let’s do this!” Gwen hopped out of the fountain then, and got herself together, shaking out her nerves, too. She jogged in place for a bit, hyping herself up, and did another check on her weapons. Right before she went over to Anthem to get tossed, she pulled two of her kunai from her belt, figuring small weapons would be easier to hang on to while you were getting thrown bodily through the air towards people you needed to fight in close-quarters with.
”Okay, I’m ready.”
Except, was she? First off… This was weird. Being lifted up by the belt of her shorts and the back of her shirt? It was almost prime wedgie situation, but thankfully Anthem tossed her quickly enough to avoid much of one, and Gwen instead went flying forward. She couldn’t help but squeal a bit, since, well… her stomach dropped a bit when she was actually airborne.
But she definitely went flying! And right for the pair of guardians ahead of her. Rather than trying to land on her feet, Gwen tucked and rolled into a roll so she could hit the ground on her upper shoulder, roll, and then bounce right back onto her feet once she was across. BUT… she didn’t attack. She just got herself ready to dodge. Better to wait for Anthem and Elyss first before she did anything crazy.

Elyss Sieghart

Well. Guess they’re going for the throw plan. She has nothing better, but she knows this is going to feel weird being thrown by someone who’s the same height as her. Gwen is first though, and Elyss watches the ease at which Anthem threw the blonde. Okay… Guess it’s her turn.
As Elyss climbs out of the fountain, she looks at Anthem’s tree arm. That is a bit freaky and cool at the same time. She wonders how she would look with a tree arm, though, that sounds a bit hazardous for her considering she catches on fire easily. Yeah. Maybe a fire proof fake arm with lasers or a flaming chainsaw. Wait… Snap out of it Elyss. It’s time to fly and hope ya don’t die.
”Alright. Don’t miss.” She mumbles feeling her back grabbed from two spots. Talk about being manhandled. Soon, she is going through the air much like Gwen, but she doesn’t yell or anything. She’s used to exhilarating moments like these. Landing on her feet is a no no considering how she is soaring like Superman, so she curls up some as her arms hit the ground and rolls herself against the floor before stopping on her ass.
”Oof… Now, that was a trip.” She mumbles standing slowly and rubbing her arms and back. The fall wasn’t soft, but she made it work enough to not damage anything. She turns and quickly pulls out her scimitar ready for combat looking to the monkey man and woman. She’s not going to attack seeing Gwen take a defensive stance. It’s best to see what they’re going to do and wait for Anthem to move. No need to make any critical mistakes. Not now at least.

Monkey man smirked as he watched the blonde one go flying, then the red one in turn; it would seem that they were using his very wording to try and gain an advantage. “Okay then, let us begin.” He looked over to the Lady and said. “I’d hate to ask you to do more work than me.” She nodded in understanding, he was clearly more equip to do battle upon the sticks than she was.
Both of the Tower combatants moved by the time Elyss was in the air, racing towards opposite ends of the sticks at the same time. Anthem didn’t stay still though, opting to trying her skill with the bamboo shoots as she took a running jump into the chasm; with a classic superman punch poised to strike. But the Monkey wasn’t a creature nor a style to be taken lightly as he slipped down into a lowered stance, both feet on different shoots as he brought his arms in front of him. He used his right hand to hook and deflect the Scion’s strike, then applied his right wrist to her mouth with lightning fast precision! It knocked her back, but she found her balance as the Kishimoto warrior showed no pain her hesitation as she realigned her jaw. Her combat intution kicked in as she saw the form of the Monkey and imagined how he would move and strike, so Anthem applied her circle walking or Ba Gua and readied for his follow up.
Gwen had little time to prepare, Elyss had almost none by the time this lady, 5’8 with long black flowing hair that moved way to easily over those poles was upon them. She sized Gwen up first and the moment the Lady crossed from the chasm and on solid land there was the sound her whipping her too long kimono sleeves to reveal her finger-less gloves. But the noise and the hand movements were only a distraction as the Lady jumped into into a tornado kick aimed at Gwen’s center of mass. Only, her whipping back her sleeves wasn’t only a distraction as she used the momentum of her kick to throw a single dagger aimed at Elyss’ right thigh in quite the vital spot for moving.

Gwen Poole

Damn straight she had little time to prep. That’s why she’d touched down with her intentions already in mind; Elyss and Anthem would be right behind her, and with the warning beforehand that things would kick off immediately… Gwen was ready-ish enough. Kinda sorta.
Her dodge was less of a ’dodge’ and more of a squeal followed by throwing herself to the ground to roll and bounce back up to her feet; not a very refined move, but speedy. Her kunai were at the ready, still in her hands, and at the ready. And she was ready to use them. That kick brought this woman in close. Close enough for Gwen to roll towards her rather than away, so that once Gwen was back up, she just went for a dual stab. One dagger for her abdomen, one dagger stabbing downward for the woman’s shoulder.

Oh shit! She didn’t even get the chance to really stand and get her bearings apparently before noting the sudden blackness of a person’s hair before them; their body a near blur that only her instincts could possibly follow. Luckily, she didn’t go immediately after her, but she threw something. Elyss noticed something fly from her sleeve; its metal glinting in the air. Wait! That’s a dangerous sharp object coming her way, but what it was aiming for wasn’t clear to her at first. Still, she had to do something.
That something was to barely turn her body lifting her leg to move, but since the attack was so sudden, and she didn’t have much time to get herself together after rolling, her senses were a bit wobbly, and she was only able to lift her leg just out of the way to have the dagger cut into the side of her thigh and continue flying past her. Though, the cut is slightly deep and already starting to bleed a bit.
”Ah, Hell!” She yelps finding herself stumbling as pressure on that right leg caused her to suck in some air in annoyance. Why must she always get injured so easily in these battles, but that is just it. It’s just a scratch, and something she can easily ignore as she looks to Gwen to see how her attack worked out. She wasn’t going to simply wait and watch though. As soon as their interaction was done, Elyss is running (with barely a limp) swinging her scimitar in her hand before swinging it upwards at the woman in a diagonal starting from the right up to the left. She doesn’t know if she’ll be assisting Gwen or anything with her attack, but she isn’t going to not do anything.

Anthem moved confidentially over the foot around beams of bamboo underneath her feet, her arms in front of her as she approached the spirit guardian once more. Monkey Man readied himself, standing up on one leg and balancing as she carefully watched her approach. This maneuver was a lot more difficult to achieve without actually subtly altering air waves to assist in movements,; but of course the Scions of old wanted to make the situation difficult as possible.
They stood on poles a few feet apart from each other, trading blows while both dodging and parrying each other at the same time. Anthem moved with the dexterity and grace of a young and aspiring master with deadly precision, a leaf on the wind without restriction or fear of falling. But the Monkey had an obvious advantage as well and having an extra appendage that could both strike and balance; the battle was one that was fierce on both sides just as it had been with Kishimoto Iziz.
The Lady in the kimono recovered gracefully as her tornado kick was dodged, an excellent first counter and a marker of skill that meant there was no cause to hold back. Considering that she also didn’t hear the familiar sound of metal slinking into flesh, so her original dagger was dodged as well; a smirk growing on the Lady’s features as any reservations she had were now gone.
Gwen struck from the front in her duo dagger combination, aiming for midsection and shoulder. While Elyss came up from behind, her uneven step and slight limp making her footsteps easily heard. A counter was formed as the Lady responded by reaching out with her right hand, the idea was to capture that dagger and the assaulting fist in the smooth fabric; hidden in her fist a senbon needle to deposit just underneath the skin in a pressure point that would severely limit the use of the thumb and fore finger of that hand.
In the same movement, the Lady would grab that wrist and spin with the blonde headed avenger. She took a cut from the scimtar, but that was because she would try to trip Gwen up and spin her in the way of the the redheads weapon. Then releasing the woman and stepping back as she armed herself with more senbon needles.

Gwen Poole

Star

She’d TRIED to move fast and efficiently, but maybe she just wasn’t fast or skilled enough to get the upper hand just yet against whoever this Lady was. Before she knew exactly what had happened, her weapon and the hand holding it got captured by the Kimono Lady, and her thumb and pointer finger felt… not great.
Worst of all, she felt herself getting pulled and tossed into Elyss, even after she saw her redheaded ally slice into their opponent a little. ”WHOA!” She put her arms up as best she could to protect herself so that Elyss wouldn’t slice into her either… at least not too bad.
”Jeez, sorry, sorry…” She stumbled only for a moment, but found her footing again. She shook her hand a little, not appreciating whatever had been done to her, and just steeled herself for what was to come next. Looking to Elyss, she nodded. ”Together?” They needed to work as in-sync as possible to take down this chick. Rather than get in close again, Gwen decided to toss one of the kunai with her good hand, aiming for center mass of the lady, but hung back so that Elyss could follow up with her scimitar again and Gwen would hopefully not be in the way.

Elyss Sieghart

Ugh. One can never get a clean hit; even in a two vs one situation. You just have to hate skilled fighters at times like these. So much easier to take down dumb rookie bandits or mindless monsters.
It’s a bit late to completely stop her slice, but when she sees Gwen suddenly in front of her, all she could do was strain her muscles to cease her attack just enough to that her scimitar only barely digs into Gwen’s shoulder nicking her a bit but being stopped enough by the blonde’s clothing to not leave any noticeable injury. With a sigh, Elyss pulls her weapon away from Gwen and huffs in frustration and nods a bit. ”Together sounds better than almost killing one another.”
What is Gwen doing? She’s throwing and stepping back. That means Elyss should go in and be that main fighter in this while Gwen provides support and distractions. She hopes that’s what her comrade is thinking before she’s charging in again; her limp less noticeable as she gets more used to the different pressure she has to put on her leg and as the pain is numbed by adrenaline. If only she had both her scimitars, this would be much more easier, but she cannot use the sword’s innate magic to bring its twin to it.
The blade in her hand turns with the flat end towards the ground and the sharp edge facing upwards as she goes for an upward slash moving herself to the side of where the dagger seems to be aiming for to force the woman to worry about the dagger on one side and her on the other as she brings her weapon upwards diagonally to slice through her chest.

æ Scion Anthem Kishimoto æ

Star

Anthem moved in a wide circle at first as she approached her enemy, hands up and palms pointed away from her as the elementalist did what she could to move like a leaf in the wind. Left foot, then right, then left again as the Scion needed to make a conscious effort to dance over these poles; a side note to start working on training her balance after this tower was completed. Unfortunately for the Kishimoto Warrior, her opponent had no such issue as he charged her with an animal veracity; leaping through the air as he tried to stomp on her from above! Not likely the disadvantage, the raven haired would backflipped out of the way. He landed where Anthem once was, but she was now closer to Gwen and Elyss; flipping again and again like a gymnastic until she made purchase on solid land; moving in wide and tight circles until she had everyone in her crimson view.
The enigmatic Lady tried to back away from the two women as they were both much stronger than they appeared. In this encounter the amount of damage that she had taken so far would have had a normal human bleeding in several spots. A dagger came flying towards her her midsection, in which instinctively she went to go catch. As she did that, Elyss followed up with her slash! Because her arm was already in that area, there was little time to react as her left arm received a thick cut against it. The Lady almost screamed, but she was so focused on the counter attack that it would have to wait. With her right hand which had more needles within it already, she made a lightning fast quick jab against Elyss left shoulder area; stabbing her with the three needles she had within her fingers.

Gwen Poole

Star

Another kunai found itself into Gwen’s hands as soon as the other one had left it. Elyss went in for her slash, and… money! It worked! But now she saw that her friend was now in the same dangerously close position that she was… Those needles…
Goddamn, Gwen wished she had her guns! Guns would solve this real fast! Or maybe not even THAT fast, given how these people moved. In any case, she wasn’t going to throw a dagger their way while this lady was stabbing her friend; something bad might happen, like hitting Elyss. Instead, Gwen jumped in fast as can be, and right as the woman focused her attention on attacking Elyss, Gwen rushed in to come up behind her and stabbed for the small of her back with the kunai!

Elyss Sieghart

Star

Ah. Gwen’s kunai was enough to distract the woman enough for Elyss to get a clean cut onto their opponent’s left arm. That should slow that side of her down a bit for more attacks later on, but of course. With every action, comes a reaction, and the woman’s reaction was frightening.
Elyss feels three needles push deeply into her right shoulder. She felt the urge to drop her blade and recoil in pain, but that would be foolish. Giving this woman anymore time to prepare for other attacks would be unreasonable with her taking such a blow. They need to keep pushing their advantage leaving nothing for this woman in the end. That’s how they’ll win. Elyss can feel Gwen nearing, and the blonde’s attack would be much more efficient if Elyss tried to keep the woman from being able to block.
With a grunt, Elyss reaches for the wrist of the woman that digs those needles into her arm. If her left side is wounded, and her right side is grabbed, there is no way she can successfully block Gwen completely, right? Well, that all depends on if Elyss can grab the woman and keep her from moving much which is what she attempts. If she can’t, then, she’d just try to throw herself to the side and get out of Gwen’s way and try something else.

Everything turned into slow motion as Anthem closed her eyes and focused on the battlefield, extending her extrasensory abilities and sensing the vibrations through the ground and air. She could see Elyss and Gwen fighting the enigmatic Lady and judging from their postures they were gaining the advantage on her. The Scion was proud to see two of her students working in concert against a common opponent, their skills increasing as they went.
At the same time there was her own opponent, who was giving her no mercy and no quarters as he full on sprinted on all fours over the balance beams towards the Kishimoto warrior. At full tilt Monkey man would be on Anthem in a few sections, but that was all part of her plan after getting to some solid ground. Now that balancing wasn’t an issue, the Scion was able to push fear, anger, and ego from her mind and allowing her to react purely on instinct. Once her opponent reached solid ground he took a great leap towards her! Intending on coming down on her from above with a hammer-fist. Anthem’s eyes didn’t open nor did she even show any indication that she knew what was happening until the very last second, right before her opponent were to land his blow against her. The raven haired woman ducked while spinning in a circle, her eyes now open as she counter with a solid cross jab against his Monkey face with a satisfying /crack!/
After depositing her needles into the redhead’s shoulder, the Lady wasn’t expecting to be grabbed so quickly. Her knee jerk reaction to that was a counter-grab, wrist under wrist as she intending to flip Elyss on to the ground. But that idea was quickly short lived as Gwen came in from behind, and without enough time to react the kimono wearing Lady was stabbed in the back. Her eyes went wide as she let Elyss go, then, with a sigh and a nod; that spirit accepted her defeat and disappeared into a show of light. Leaving behind a dozen or so needles that she so expertly used.

”…That’s what I’m talkin’ about!” Once the lady vanished, Gwen immediately looked to Elyss and raised a hand to get a high-five from her! ”Double-teamed her good! Hell yeah! Team-work makes the dream work!” Even if she didn’t receive her high-five, Gwen bumped Elyss with her hip too, and then gave her a quick once-over to make sure she wasn’t hurt bad.
”Grab those needles and let’s take them with us, we can probably use them up ahead for… whatever comes next, right? How’s Anthem doing…” She turned to see what their sensei was up to… And wasn’t really all that surprised. She was doing awesomely as always, maybe miles ahead of what Elyss and Gwen had managed to accomplish. Gwen was tempted to use a bit of team-work and help out her instructor and friend, but at the same time, she didn’t want to get in the way and throw Anthem off. So instead…
”Kick his monkey butt, Anthem!”

Elyss sighs. Oh wow. Gwen and her actually won, and it didn’t cost her an arm and a leg. Well, she did sort of get something stabbing into her shoulder, so she reaches and pulls out that needle with a wince. Luckily, she doesn’t have a phobia of these sharp things. With a sigh, she actually does high five Gwen but doesn’t react to the hip bump.
Her eyes do move to Anthem however watching the Scion give the monkey quite the face makeover. That had to hurt. Elyss should know with her history of getting hit in the face. Though, Gwen does want the needles up. ”You go and help out Anthem, or at least see if there is anything you can do. I’ll get these needles up.”
She’s already down picking them up while making sure not to poke herself. Elyss knows Anthem can handle the monkey man. That’s just how crazy strong she is.

The Scion of Hellifyno stood there tall and proud, her right arm bend behind across the small of her back while her left was in front of her, palm forward and out pointing towards her opponent. She was breathing pretty rapidly, with a busted lip and nose that had dripped blood ever so slowly. Upon further examination of her stance the three other people in the room could possibility notice a slight limp in her right leg, from a misstep that she took over on the poles. In the back of her mind Anthem wouldn’t had minded some help from her student to help quell this threat, but instead they left it solely to her in which she appreciated as well. That way they didn’t need to put themselves through any unnecessary damage, or subject themselves to more pain for her sake.
The man landed on his feet, then rolled one before he was able to get up again. He spit out a few teeth that the Kishimoto warrior had knocked loose, the bits disappearing into light as his face was scrunched up in pain, frustration, and probably anger. While Anthem’s was quiet and serene, simply focused on her opposition without ego, anger, or fear as she did what should could to ignore the pain from her own wounds. With a primal roar, the Monkey Man started to charge her on all fours at first, so Anthem took the initiative and and started to run towards him too; crimson orbs alit with a burning passion as she wanted to defeat this spirit with all her will.
Anthem clashed with her opponent without mercy, jumping into her own tornado kick as he tried for an overhead swing. Having performed this kick so many times in her firebending training, she connected twice, the first time with his arms making the man lose balance a bit; then the powered strike across his face that made him spin out!
He turned twice before collapsing into a pile of rag doll, Anthem landing at the same time as she prepared herself for a follow-up strike. But there was no need as he turned from physical to spectral in a few moments, before regarding the party.
“Well fought, the three of you. Please, proceed to the top of the tower. You will find that your journey has come to an end. Go and may your journeys be as victorious as your battles here. Also, feel free to keep the weapons; you will find that in the physical world they will have some interesting effects.”
“Yes!” The Scion exclaimed, throwing her fist in the air as she regarded Gwen and Elyss with a big smile. Now that she didn’t have to fight anymore, she limped over to her students and partners. “Alright, let’s go get this sword.” And up the last flight stairs they would go.

Gwen Poole

Star

Looking at Anthem, there would always be some kind of phantom pain in Gwen’s heart. She was just… so cool! And once upon a time, just about a year ago, Gwen had been in a perpetual state of envy. Envious of other people that had their lives together and were doing things that, while boring, were a lot more fulfilling than sitting on your butt all day watching TV and playing video games and reading comics…But that envy went away after you helped save the world a few times… AND got paid doing it!
Instead of envy, she was just left with awe, and that just made her wish she could one day look that cool when she was fighting someone. Once Anthem’s opponent surrendered and announced that they had reached the end, Gwen pumped her fists in the air, and then slapped Elyss on the back! ”Yeah! We diiiiiid it!”
And then she ran over to Anthem, putting an arm around her for a bit of support if needed. ”Yeah, let’s get the dang sword and get outta here! I think I’m gonna need some more training so that maybe if we need to do this thing again, I’ll be stronger.”

Elyss Sieghart

Star

Elyss SieghartTo be honest, Elyss found herself struggling to keep up with the movements between the monkey and Anthem. That’s to be expected after so long of inactivity. Even though she’s kept herself trained by dealing with small issues here and there, it’s obvious to herself that she is a far cry from the Elyss that fought hordes upon hordes of enemies back home; the esteemed general of her world. Years of stagnation on the throne and in her own mental cage has done its number on her body. It’s not envy she feels towards the younger, stronger, and faster Kishimoto. It’s more of a longing to return to what she was. A long road indeed, but it’s a goal that she actually looks forward to. Though, she feels she’ll never catch up to Anthem in terms of ability. Only being able to control fire isn’t gonna cut it against someone who can control almost all elements.
Elyss raises her left hand to rub at her own neck as the fight ended. Her right side is a bit messed up from getting unexpecyed acupuncture treatments. Hopefully, the next challenge has another pool for them to restore themselves in. Leave it to the final level to add an extra challenge if it does. ”Yeah. Let’s get going.” She mutters pocketing the needles in her jacket and follows after Gwen and Anthem. If either of them needs a hand, she’s there. She only has one useable hand anyway. To the top floor they go.

æ Scion Anthem Kishimoto æ

Now that the battle was over, walking up these stairs definitely more difficult than it should have been. While she wasn’t beat down, Anthem was definitely beat up. A tiny amount of blood escaped her lip and nose, and her right eye swelled up ever so slightly. A right side limp betrayed her position as well, but never did the Kishimoto warrior complain about it. Though she accepted Gwen’s support and now the trio of woman advanced to the top of the Tower.
“I want you guys to know that you did amazingly. I wouldn’t have gotten this far without you guys.” Even with her enhanced ability and practiced skill, Anthem was only one woman; she knew that she wouldn’t have been able to handle everything they encountered here.
There wasn’t fountain up here, but rather an invigorating mist that washed away their wounds, their stresses and worries; if only for the moment. The mist thickened into a fog as things seemed to change around them, the ground went from a wooden floor to something more sandy; like the shore of a lake.
The fog cleared to reveal just that, a massive spiritual lake with enigmatic creatures and spirits taking refuge within its warm waters. Between them and the water was a large shrine of the Lady of the Lake, ornate and beautiful with open arms as it seemed to welcome them. At the base of this statue, it’s blade buried half way into a large stone.
She felt drawn to this weapon, this tool, this symbol of Hope. Stepping up to it, Anthem reached forward with her actual left hand and grasped its red covered hilt. It reacted to her aura, to her soul, and agreed with her as the brilliant sliver pommel started to glow a soft gold. With a mighty pull, the Scion pulled forth the Sword from the Stone and held it high over her head; the blade of the weapon a mixture of crimson red and brilliant sliver with ancient; magical runes etched against the flat of the blade.
Moments later the fog quickly returned, swirling around the trio of women as everything changed once more. But instead they felt something real and familiar, feet against the dirt, sky above their heads. They were back on Twine, only minutes after they had departed; each still in possession of the weapons they recovered. The Excalibur had a sheath around it now, in which Anthem attached to her belt. Grabbing her staff that she left there previously, she looks over to Gwen and Elyss.

“…Let’s go grab something to eat? I’m starving.” A victorious grin on her face.
