The Scion of Hellifyno sat upon a raised pillar of Earth in her meditative position with her two fist closed pressed into one another and legs crossed, currently positioned outside the city of Persistence on the island Palisade. Dressed in her normal green gi, the young warrior waited patiently for a new associate she had recently made acquaintance with. The sun slowly fell to reveal a crescent moon and a slightly chilly wind from over the ocean, but the Elementalist had her spirit of fire to keep her warm.

Fang Zhen

In the light of the moon, the white robes of Fang Zhen would seem almost ethereal as he strode through the forest outside the city. Arms crossed with hands hidden in wide sleeves, the martial cultivator traveled to meet his new collaborator and apprentice, something he had not had in a timespan longer than most mortals lives. Emerging from the treeline into the clearing where Anthem meditated atop the stone pillar, Zhen breathed deeply and nodded, pleased by the potency of the natural Qi in the area. “I see you have chosen well, Anthem. This will be an excellent place to begin your cultivation training.”

Behind him heeling at his left foot she remained close but not so much to be in his way. When he came upon the Mistress she immediately knelt , her head lifted with the pride of her collar but not so her gaze. She would not speak unless given permission to do so from her Master.

“While the energy here is potent indeed. It is much better where I plan to take you.” She responded, quickly rising from the stone pillar and picking up her staff that hid behind it. “When I first embarked on my personal quest, I found a location of bountiful natural energy deep within the island. So I rose a mountain to get to it.” With that, she lead the man into the forest; towards the obvious mountain less than a mile away that reigned many miles upwards. While the walk in between was a simple stroll through the forest; Avatar mountain had just under ten thousand steps before getting to the top. But the moment Zhen took his first step, he’d find the free flowing Qi much more available than the Red Sun a few miles away. Every step upwards would be the same, more and more natural energy until they reach the top. “So. How do we begin?”

Fang Zhen

“A good use of your Elementalist abilities. Come, Tawny. Let us see this peak.” Fang Zhen followed the Scion eagerly, expecting Tawny to follow as was her nature. Each step further allowed the cultivator to sense the increase in Qi, even as they traveled up the mountain toward the summit. When at last they stood atop the mountain, it would be like each breath was filled to the brim with the natural energy, a feeling he had not had since leaving his homeland. It would take a few moments for him to regain his focus. “Ah yes. First, we must open your spiritual channels. Kneel and enter a meditative state. From there, you will need to focus on my words and follow the instructions explicitly, lest you unintentionally harm yourself.”

TawnyKatt

She would rise and trail her Master, mindful of his steps, her own smaller ones keeping pace behind his left foot. Once they had reached the summit she moved out of the way of the Master and Mistress to kneel, mindful of her gaze she watched with lowered lashes hoping to learn as well.

In the meanwhile Anthem did have to ask. “So. Uh. Who is she?” At first the writer didn’t realize that Fang Zhen was actually the Master of which she regarded. Now to heed his instruction would be a simple task, as another pillar of Earth was summoned for her to sit on. Her two fist closed and pressed into each other as she’d focused on her inner self. “Understood.” She replied, waiting for more instruction.

Fang Zhen

“This one belongs to me. Though she is a slave, you can consider her a sister in cultivation training. Her spiritual channels have already been opened and she has entered the first realm of cultivation, Body Tempering. You are permitted to greet Anthem, Tawny.” Fang Zhen spoke calmly while moving behind Anthem and settling into a cross legged position. “Before we begin, I will need to access the energy flows within your body. Please lower the technique coating your skin. It is an impressive skill, but will interfere in this beginning stage.”

TawnyKatt

Her voice when it came was soft and melodious in tone as she spoke, her voice lifted slightly to be heard but never her gaze. ” greetings Mistress” Ears prick to the sound but she did not flinch she had naught to worry over her Master was near. And she would keep him and the Mistress safe if danger approached them.

“Uhhh. No. No. None of that now. You can call me Anthem.” The Scion was already burdened with the prestige that came with her position, she didn’t want nor need that kind of status over anyone. “Belongs to you huh?” She looked from Zhen to Tawny and back, if there was a single inclination that the slave wasn’t there out of her free will of course she’d fight for freedom. But if it was a choice? The Kishimoto woman had no position to hold in that case, besides just rolling with it. “Oh yeah! That. My Aura.” A Kishimoto technique that was like a second skin to her now. It was actually a little effort on her part to drop her Aura to allow the Cultivator access to her magical pathways, like not flinching when one saw the doctor coming towards them with a needle. “Very well.” She spoke in a monotone voice.

Fang Zhen

Zhen gave a nod toward Tawny, giving her permission to call Anthem by name. “Yes. It was fortunate I found her when I did. The ship carrying her and her last owner was destroyed as I understand, and her owner had died. Without an owner, I do not want to think of what end she may have come to.” Seeing the newcomer to the summit made the cultivator raise an eyebrow at the sudden emergence of a stranger, but he brushed it off. He’d performed this ritual before with more company and the Red Sun was often more busy. Once the Aura was dropped, Fang Zhen carefully pressed his fingers against a series of pressure points along Anthem’s neck and back, and began to insert a bit of his Qi to trace the spiritual channels beneath her skin. “Now, breath deep and focus your senses inward. All beings who possess both a soul and a material body have what are called Spiritual Roots. These Roots are the connections through which the soul controls the body, and remains anchored to it on the mortal plane.”

If what she thought was about to happen was going to happen she wanted to be sure to be out of the way. Scooting back some she cleared a good space. Kneeling and attentive to the Master and Anthem she remained motionless, a figure seeming carved in stone.

She took deep, relaxing breaths as she focused on her spiritual self. This was pretty simple task for her actually as instinctively her soul extended outwards to encompass the entirely of plateau in the shape of a bright white and black orb of light, with a great tree growing out on top and its roots integrated into the orb. That only existed for moments as Zhen Fang traced her spiritual paths, then it retracted quickly back within the Scion’s form as she remained motionless. He’d only just realize that it wasn’t just a single normal soul within her, but a reincarnated and ancient one with the previous memories of all incarnations.

Fang Zhen

An odd soul, one with more depth and connection than most. But for the purposes of this ritual it was irrelevant. Fang Zhen also ignored the newcomer, not daring to interrupt this delicate process for fear of injuring Anthem. “By utilizing these Roots, which connect the spiritual to the material, one can draw in the energy of creation that exists all around us called Qi, and use it to break free of the shackles of mortality to embrace immortality. Feel the presence of my Qi within you. What I am doing is opening your spiritual channels, leading back to your Spiritual Roots. Once they are open, you will need to focus your mind on the sensation. Find where they are. Then, as you inhale, imagine your Roots breathing in the energy. Let it flow from them into your body and spread throughout it. Let it fill you completely.” Zhen’s own pure Qi traced the pathways in her body, leaving warmth in its passing and leading all the way back to the connections that bound her soul to her mortal frame.

It was lucky for her that Anthem was already well aware of her spiritual arts, fully in tune with her soul self to preform a series of abilities and to bend the elements of nature to her will. Though this sensation was different, odd in comparison to what she was used too. It wasn’t the elemental power that she drew from her lands, but the pure raw energy that made up even that. That Qi slowly started from her lowest chakra, then moved upwards like a slow boil. She took a deep breath, and exhaled a powerful gust; not blow someone off of the mountain strong but it would be noticed. Then again, and again, and each time more and more Qi would go through her chakras and filter out to all the organs associated with it. At this point the Scion of Hellifyno was in a world of her own, Anthem inner world that she shared with every version of her for over 10 thousand years.

Fang Zhen

“Breath in the Qi, breath out. As the energy fills you, let it seep into and destroy those things which are harmful. Let it cleanse your body and mind of impurities, and reform you into the peak of what you were meant to be. And then beyond as you release the first shackle of mortality from your body and soul.” It would come quickly if she was doing the exercise correctly, which he could feel that she was through his connection to her. Once the Qi filled her body completely, it would begin to heal and restore every cell to its peak state and purge her body of all harmful substances which had built up in her system over the course of her life. “And now, begin cycling the energy through your spiritual pathways, forming an unending chain of Qi within you. Feel as it becomes a part of you forever, making you greater.” The moment she completed a full cycle of Qi, Anthem would step into the first Realm of cultivation, Body Tempering. Her body would be better in every way than the peak of her species, empowered by the energy flowing within her now. As it cycled, the impurities that had been cleansed from her would be expelled through her pores in a black viscous fluid.

Out of the way the bilious liquid she caught wind and was grateful again she had been wise enough to position herself upwind from Anthem. Even as the stench filled the air the girl did not move. She remained a statue, aware, alert to her Master and Anthem’s needs but only background till they needed her.

There was a pace that Anthem kept, her own inner tempo with her breath as she summoned the energy within her system carefully. The Scion allowed the energy of the world fill her to the very the core, then to her organs, muscles, skin then vessels as it was weaved into every fiber of her being. A decade of mental training and fortitude had prepared her for this, the countless hours of mediation and spirit searching, the many Masters that she had studied with on the subject, and of course her own personal connection to the realm of spirits. At the same time this sensation was one that she had never experienced before, and every single nerve ending, every cell had been undergoing this transformation as well. Physical impurities came out of her skin like sweat, empowering her all at the same time. But the Scion stated focused, channeling and cycling the Qi until she was told to stop.

Fang Zhen

“It is done. You have broken through to the first realm, Body Tempering.” Fang Zhen removed his fingers and Qi from Anthem before the digits could touch the black fluid. Even after the countless years he’d spent training in this way, purging impurities would always be unpleasant. “You may be disoriented at first, due to the increase in sensation, strength, and awareness. But that will pass in a short time, leaving just the full power of your new cultivation Realm.”
